Maryland School Abuse Incidents Continue to Mount Up

A Howard County teacher, 44-year-old Matthew Barth, is facing charges for the alleged sexual abuse of a 15-year-old student at Maryland’s Mt. Hebron High School.

Detectives believe that the teacher abused the student on multiple occasions inside the school for four months after reviewing electronic records which showed that there was inappropriate contact between the teacher and the victim.

Also, a jury convicted a former Maryland School for the Deaf aide of sexually abusing two of seven middle-school girls who said he had touched their breasts or buttocks over a three-year period at the school’s Columbia campus.

The Howard County jury cleared 38-year-old Clarence Taylor III of one count of child sexual abuse but was unable to reach a verdict on four other counts.
