While there’s no way to know for sure just how many San Francisco, California, priests, monks, deacons, and lay people are accused of abusing young victims, new reports from a variety of credible news sources are bringing the issue to light.

NBC News has revealed several shocking statistics in reports on the issue:

• Dioceses and religious orders so far have revealed more than 5,100 clergy members are involved to various degrees
• The AP revealed that nearly 2,000 who remain alive to determine where they have lived and worked
• Hundreds of those on the list still hold positions of trust with access to children–and, there are 76 on that list who could not be located
• Around 1,700 priests and other clergy members are living with little to no oversight from religious authorities or law enforcement

The Washington Post revealed that, “Sexual abuse is notoriously under-reported, especially when the victims are children unaware, or not fully cognizant, that what they have experienced is a crime.”

We believe that the young boy and girl victims of San Francisco, California, clergy and institutional abuse should have the right to face these abusers and get compensation and justice.

It is now coming to light that thousands of young boys and girls suffered terrible abuses from church clergy, institutional leadership, and other persons in positions these victims should have been able to trust–physical and sexual abuses that went largely unreported for decades or more.
